Shem CreekWe usually only make the trip to Shem Creek when we have visitors in town, since it's a great place for seafood. However, this week we were fortunate enough to go with our friends Jeff & Katie who know that we are ready (at the drop of a hat) for any last minute plans! We tried to make it to Vickery's by sunset, and had a seat at the bar until we could get a table on the patio.
Vickery's is just one of the many delicious restaurants along Shem Creek, but it has quickly become our favorite with a great laid back vibe, gorgeous views, affordable prices, and unbelievably delicious food!
A little history lesson... the shrimp boats became a popular attraction in Shem Creek in the 1940's (and still are today). It was then, a little more than 50 years ago that activity started happening around the creek, and now there are at least 8 or more restaurants and a few hotels that are packed most nights of the week.
|Sorry for the blurriness.... the camera is still 'new'!|
After dinner we walked downstairs to the 2nd outdoor bar at Vickery's where the guys enjoyed a game of Cornhole.
And here are few more shots of Shem Creek.
Have you been to Shem Creek? Which is your favorite restaurant or bar? Have you tried the fried chicken at Vickery's (oh my word)? Tune in next Friday for more fun around town!
If you haven't been to Vickery's, you should check it out!
BONUS: Since Friday's are really all about being out on the town, I wanted to include this photo as well (only since I promised to)! I wasn't thinking about blogging when hanging out with these ladies, so this was a last minute shot. Unfortunately I look super tired too!
We were celebrating a very belated birthday for Alicia (even though I celebrated with her on her actual birthday), and an early farewell drink for Mary Mac. She'll be leaving for grad school in NYC in the next couple of weeks, and this makes me very, very sad.
Brian and I usually go to Fish for lunch... it's one of our favorites for a downtown lunch because they have a fantastic $10 special ($12 with wine). But this is the first time I've been for Happy Hour. They had 1/2 price appetizers & dim sum, and Shark Week drink specials. Not sure that this would be my top pick for Happy Hour again, but if you are looking for a cool lunch spot, Fish is your place! It's on upper King, has outdoor seating, and awesome food. Maybe we'll highlight the lunch sometime and provide more photos of the actual place!
Speaking of Happy Hour (for those of you in Charleston), where's your favorite? Social, the Tattooed Moose, the Pour House? Look for a Monday night deck show at the Pour House to be highlighted some Friday in our near future!
Happy Friday everyone!
