We also had Pim's Cups and most everyone brought their own beer or wine...
And for dinner, there was gumbo with sausage and shrimp that had been stewing all day....
It was de-licious, served over rice. There were also appetizers, like sauteed mushrooms & onions with french bread slices, chilled homemade crab dip with mardi gras themed tortilla chips (purple, green & gold), French cheese with crackers, and pralined pecans.
For desert, of course we had King Cake! My friend Rebecca (who's actually down in New Orleans for Mardi Gras right now), makes King Cakes every year to raise money for mission trips. They are so good!
And you know, as cheesy as I am, I had to decorate!
For the wreath, I just used my same twig wreath from Halloween, and bought a cheap boa from Party City to wrap around it, draped some beads on the wreath and the porch light, and there you have it!
There are beads draped on lots of random things, and I also bought the festive garland from Party City.
The two masks above were purchased in New Orleans the last time that Brian and I were there. And since we have a stockpile of New Orleans prints and the fact that we have picture rails that allow us to move art around without holes in the walls, we decided to enhance the theme even more!
And the most unique decoration, had to be the umbrella lamp shade! I couldn't resist!
