Week 12

 You've found your feet!
And you love to grab things,
like my hair, toys, and your paci.

We went to Georgia for the weekend to visit family,
cousins from New York and Atlanta were in town as well.

Your Papa & Daddy thought it would be great fun
to pretend that you were riding in the Porsche!

And here you are with Papa!

Otherwise, I'm holding you close
this final week we have together.

Not looking forward to taking you to daycare
(or going back to work).

imagina[tion] library

Not sure how many of you have heard of this awesome program, but I felt the need to spread the word! My mom and my sister are both teachers, and they were familiar with this through their school, so when my niece was born Allison enrolled her in Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. They encouraged me to do the same for Matilda, so I did!

Basically, you sign up your child, and Dolly (along with sponsors from your community) will send you a book per month for the first 5 YEARS of your child's life. The books are meant to be at the same learning level as the age of your child, and with 12 books a year, that's 60 books! It's a great tool to spread the love of reading to children everywhere!

Our first book arrived this month (it takes a little while to get into the system), but we were so excited when it arrived!

Week 11

Not much has changed this week,
although you are a little more cranky,
and stubborn about sleeping during the day.
However, you seem to be sleeping
longer stretches in the evenings, which is good!

I'm cherishing our last few weeks together
before heading back to work.

We've met up with friends for lunch,
and tried to go on a walk with Ryan and family one afternoon,
but the rain came.

Your Aunt KK came to town,
and she and your dad ran the
Charleston Half Marathon!

We met them at the halfway mark...

And then at the finish line!

Afterwards there were boiled peanuts, beer, and shrimp & grits,
but you slept through it all!

It was great to spend some
one-on-one time with her.

This is as close as we got to a
family portrait...

Week 10

Mommy has started using Instagram more!
I just love the effects that make your photos look so pretty...

Not that you aren't pretty enough on your own!

The weather has been beautiful,
with temps in the low 70's this week,
so we were able to get out and stroll through the 'hood.

I'm trying to transition you to your crib,
so we've started with naps in your room during the day.
I've found that using the SwaddleMe blanket
keeps you sleeping for extended periods of time...

 It's amazing!
No matter how tight I wrap you in blankets,
you manage to wiggle out,
but the velcro on this keeps you snug!

You probably wouldn't have any problem at all
sleeping in your own room,
but I can't stand to be that far away from you!

(supposed to be napping)
You had your 2-month vaccinations yesterdays!
I was so nervous, and prepped you with baby Tylenol.
I held your arms down, while the nurse held your legs,
you stared me straight in the eyes, as if to say...
"why are you letting this happen?"

It broke my heart.
You were fine for hours,
and we even went out to lunch with friends,
but by 2pm you were screaming bloody murder,
and you had about a degree of a temp.
I couldn't do anything to soothe you,
so I called the doctor,
which in the end did nothing for me.

We survived.
And by nightfall, you were an angel.

Today, we drove up to Granddaddy's to have lunch
with he and your great Grandmama,
and to spend the afternoon.

You were so precious,
smiling the whole visit.

As for new happenings...
you LOVE putting your fingers in your mouth.
I'm trying out teething rings, since you love chewing.
And you are getting stronger by the day,
kicking out your legs and holding up your head.

Over the past few weeks, we have received some unique gifts for our sweet baby that have truly touched our hearts. I love getting packages in the mail (I think everyone does), and these past few have been very exciting!

The first was from my cousins Chip & Chris, who sent something I've never seen before...

It's a shadowbox with a little girl's dress made from a map of South Carolina!

Another cool feature (as if that weren't cool enough), the flower to the left has "Mattie" as well as her birthdate!

And totally coincidental... down there near Athens, at the bottom left of that main map, you can make out the end of "Monroe", which is where her daddy Brian is from!

Another awesome gift from my Aunt Millie, arrived this week. A puzzle of her name!

Her daddy had fun displaying it in the nursery...

And just yesterday, a hand-painted gift from cousin Wallis arrived, framed and ready to be hung...

So that's exactly what we did, we hung it up on our 'gallery' above the changing table.

Some other pieces in the gallery include these free printables from The Handmade Home.

Of course, I had to create a few of my own since I had a duplicate letter in "a", and others like "i is for ice cream", "l is for love", and "d is for dress" were more specific to us than some of the letters used on that site."m is for music" is probably my favorite!

We also bought the bicycle hooks at Urban Outfitters. Originally I thought I'd use it for her towels, but those are mostly in the bathroom, so I've used it for things I need on hand at the changing table, like toys and washcloths...

And you've seen this before, but it made it to the wall. Our pregnancy announcement...

Here's the full effect again.

I love this wall. I know it is cluttered, but it's my favorite view from the glider when I'm rocking our sweet baby. It all just makes me smile!

And see all those baskets. They've really worked out well for us, holding everything we need in a semi-organized fashion!

And here's Matilda's view from the changing table!

Week 9

This week we traveled to Spartanburg
to spend time with family.
You are reaching, grabbing, and clutching more and more,
and you enjoyed playing on Onnie's playmat,
which is a little different from your own.

And speaking of other people's toys,
you also tried out your cousin Ellie's old swing!
You've never been in a swing before...

You had your 2 month checkup this week,
and you are 11 lbs 10 oz (55%)
22 1/2 in (50%)
and your head measures 16 in (85%)
Your dad claims that's the Sander's head!
Surprisingly though, the doctor was impressed
with how well you hold that head up!

Overall you are happy and healthy!
And you've started drooling a LOT!

You were supposed to get your shots this week,
but the doctor's office was out of one,
so we'll go back next week for those!

Week 8

With Christmas being over,
things are getting back to normal...
like our house.

You've really never known life without Christmas
or Christmas music, decorations, lights!
I'm sure you are confused.

You were excited to pull for Mommy's Clemson Tigers
on New Year's Eve in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl
(don't get me started on corporate bowl game names).

Your cheering obviously worked because surprisingly,
Clemson defeated LSU!
25-24 was the final score!

For New Year's Eve, we went to a party at our friend Alicia's.
Between the excitement of the game and the party,
you were worn out!

In other developmental news,
you love to reach for things.
And you have started smiling more than ever!
