Week 43

Did I ever tell you that orange juice gives me heartburn?
And that I love investigative crime shows,
like LOVE them in the sense that I could watch marathon-airings of them every night?
That I prefer Coke over Pepsi, but there was a time when that was the opposite?
Or that I snort when I laugh? Although you've probably heard me do that before.

These are just a few things that I want you to know about me, Matilda.
Before I forget to tell you.

I also think that it's interesting that for 9 months,
I was obsessed with breastfeeding,
and pumping, and how to 'up' my supply.
And then it all ended, pretty abruptly,
and it hurt physically, more so than emotionally,
which I totally didn't anticipate.
I seriously thought that when the day came to wean,
that I would be beside myself,
that I wouldn't be able to handle it,
and that I would cry for days on end
about the loss of the bond between you and I.

And then, nothing.
There were no tears.
There was no grand finale.
It just ended.
And life went on.

Am I sad?
Yes, kind of.
But not in a bad way
because now I know that you still love me.
The bond we share is stronger than that single act.

Don't get me wrong.
I loved every minute of that time in our lives,
and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.
But you and me, we are all good.
We have a whole lifetime of getting to know each other.
And staring into each other's eyes,
and speaking in our own language,
and sharing the love that we've created.
Can't wait, sweet girl!

And not only that,
but it was just in the knick of time
because you have your first

It pushed through that bottom gum of yours on Labor Day.
And speaking of Labor Day...

For the long holiday weekend,
we spent the majority of the time at home,
and actually saw your Granddaddy
& Great Grandmomma on Friday & Saturday!

Saturday was the big game between
Clemson & Georgia,
both ranked in the top 10,
and they haven't played each other in 10 years!
I'm a tiger, and daddy's a dawg,
and the jury is still out on what you will be,
but for now, I'm the one who picks out your clothes!
Fortunately, it was a Clemson victory!!

On Sunday, we headed to Lake Murray to see
Onnie & Papa and Ellie,
as well as the Clementsons.
We spent the night,
and spent some leisurely time on the boat and in the water.

You've had a rough couple of days with congestion and coughing,
and with that stinkin tooth of yours,
but hopefully you'll be our happy (super) girl again real soon.
