The above view is what you see upon entering the room, At first we weren't planning a theme per se, considering Brian thinks that I take a theme and run with it (he'd be right). So we decided to go subtle and choose greens and blues to go with a grey backdrop. It was him that decided to add the touches of the 'universe'... to which our theme was born.
The paint is Sherwin Williams Silverplate, which we used in the living room and dining room of our previous house. We already had the green rug, the navy curtains (which needed to be hemmed to fit these windows), as well as ALL the furniture! Matilda gave up her crib for a 'big girl bed', and we moved the glider and changing table from her room as well. The dresser and quilt rack were leftover from when the room was a guest room.
It all started with the poster above the crib, which is a star map named The Heavens. I believe it was a gift from Brian's mom to him, so that he could 'sleep under the heavens'. From there, we added other new touches that included the planet mobile and constellation lamp shade, both from Pottery Barn Kids; the sun and moon artwork from an artist on Etsy called Eve Sand; the navy pouf... can't remember where I got that!
Fun fact: the quilts on the quilt rack were all made for Brian when he was a baby! The small artwork above is also from Etsy, by an artist named StopGrowingUp. Here's a close-up of that from her site...
And truth be told, I've had this little green fan for a while, and thought it would be cute to use, which is what started me on my green and navy kick! We also already had the table runner, which surprisingly works well with the circular artwork above it.
